Shared Adventure
|
|
|
It’s a Day on the Beach
In Santa Cruz,
We met waiting to get out onto the water,
You were the boy with the steady grin,
We started talking,
The budding of a friendship did begin.
|

|
|

|
Just the idea of going kayaking
Thrilled you to the bones!
Many served
So you could share this adventure,
They took you from your wheelchair,
Put you in my kayak,
On board,
We went off for a ride…
|

|
Shared Adventure -
|
|
|
Pushed by lots of caring hands,
We beat through the surf,
Slithered right through,
Then out on to the calm water,
Feeling the swells,
Rise and fall,
Out there together,
Feeling a little bit of nature,
|
|
|

|
Aough, Aough, Aough,
The sea lions acknowledge our presence.
I‘ll take you for a tour…
Santa Cruz wharf,
- Sea lion community,
Kayak – eye to eye view,
I said -
They’ll look you right in the eye!
|
|
|
|
Back out onto the water’s horizon,
Now, we’ll go see the surfer’s turf -
Cowell’s break - good beginner’s surf,
Next is Indicators,
Then Steamers Lane,
For the more skilled,
Or the more brave,
The surfers want it that way.
|

|
 |
Ocean-side of Steamers,
Seal Rock,
Covered by a hoard of sea lions,
…Just chillin’.
They’re talking at us –
Aough, Aough, Aough.
I’m happy to share this retreat with you,
This is where I come
To retreat into their world.
|
|
|
Back in - to Cowell’s beach,
Other disabled
Waiting to share an adventure!
We pull in through the surf,
Gracefully,
Smoothly,
…I take care of you,
When you’re in my boat!
|

|
|
Out there,
I think we developed some trust…
We share a gentle side,
Caring, tolerating, accepting,
As we must!
I’m glad I was able to take you for a ride,
For out on the water,
We converse with our insides.
Shared Adventure for you,
Shared Adventure for me,
It’s a special day,
Helping the disabled
Explore the wonders of the sea!
